How many more have been faked?

Yet another reason why it is so important to strike down preemption in ANY form....

Two researchers conducting animal studies on immunosuppression lied about experimental methodologies and falsified data in 16 papers and several grants produced over the past 8 years, according to the Office of Research Integrity (ORI).

The scientists, Judith Thomas and Juan Contreras, formerly at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), falsely reported that they performed double kidney removals on several rhesus macaques in experiments designed to test the effectiveness of two immune suppressing drugs -- Immunotoxin FN18-CRM9 and 15-deoxyspergualin (15-DSG) -- in preventing rejection of the a single transplanted kidney.

  1. Former,
How many more have been faked? There's just no way to know.
But supporters of preemption would essentially have you believe that there are no others. This is probably the only one and it will never happen again. All pharma players are above board and therefore there is no need for review by the courts.

  2. Thomas and Contreras should be charged with attempted bodily harm and cruelness to animals.

Regarding preemption, I must say immune suppressants work well in Michigan. Our drug industry immunity law totally cured pharma from product liability. When I learned about our misguided law I gave my MS medication away. It’s not that I had read anything bad about the drug; it’s just that I couldn’t swallow the bitter medicine.
