Arteries Clogged by Moolah

Cardiobrief, via Dow Jones newswire, reports on the extraordinary sums MSP provided to CME related to Vytorin. One single grant amount to $6 M.

The information emerged through a Senate investigation.

I'm glad that pharma is supporting health-care reform.

  1. I ordered "Worst Pills, Best Pills," but all I got was a newsletter. Not a single capsule.

    What gives?

  2. If you want to remove big pharma's influence on CME, just change the tax code so it's no longer tax deductible. The expenditures will dry up overnight.

  4. From an article linked in Justice’s posting:

“A recent hearing of the Senate Aging Committee on continuing medical education (CME) should scare anyone who might need to see a doctor in the next few years. But you don’t need to be a Washington policy wonk to discover that there’s a huge problem with CME.” See: http://cardiobrief.org/2009/08/25/editorial-prescription-for-medical-education-sunshine/
